The NCHA would like to congratulate Tia Collins on being selected as the 2020 recipient of the Todd Drummond Memorial Award.
NCHA affiliates have the opportunity to nominate one outstanding youth member for this award each year. The recipient is recognized for their scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, and cutting horse involvement.
“Tia is the perfect example of how our youth should look at life,” said Chris Howell, Wateree Cutting Horse Association president. “Tia has been a huge help and blessing to myself and my wife, Alison. She is the first one to jump in and help out.”
Collins is from Monroe, Georgia and has been an NCHA member since 2013. She is enrolled in several honors classes at her high school and is active with local community projects such as Operation Christmas Child and New Path. Collins also competes regularly in the Wateree CHA and Area 18 cutting competitions.
“I was honored to even be nominated by Chris and Alison Howell from the Wateree CHA,” Collins said. “When I got the call [I had received the award], I was in complete shock, especially when there are so many other youth that are so deserving of the win also.”
Collins will be presented with the Todd Drummond Memorial Award buckle during the upcoming 2020 NCHA North Texas Chevy Dealers World Championship Futurity presented by Great American Insurance.
