Stylin Rockette, shown by Chris Johnsrud, scored 221 points to win the 2020 PCCHA Holy Cow Performance Horses Futurity at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas, on Tuesday, October 6. The win, worth $25,000, increased her lifetime earnings to $38,908. Now You Sea Me and Morgan Cromer scored 219 points to claim the reserve championship and $22,000, while John Doe and Kenny Platt placed third with 216 points.
Owned and bred by John McClaren, McGregor, Tex., Stylin Rockette, by Rockin W, is out of the Stylin Cat daughter Absalutely Stylin, dam of one other money earner, Smart Curly Rey LTE $1,620. Stylin Rockette was a West Texas Futurity finalist and placed fourth in the Brazos Bash on her way to the Pacific Coast Futurity.
Chris Johnsrud, the NCHA earner of $967,806, won the 2007 PCCHA Futurity Open Limited on Ilikethewayyoumove LTE $49,058.
Now You Sea Me LTE $42,900, bred and owned by Jacob Pinheiro, Templeton, Calif., and sired by High Brow CD, is the first money earner out of Lu Sea Lu LTE $21,279, who Pinheiro showed as a 2015 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited finalist. This year Pinheiro rode Now You Sea Me to win the Cascades Futurity Non-Pro, and take the reserve championship in the Idaho Futurity Non-Pro. Cromer also rode the mare to the Open finals at those shows.
Morgan Cromer, the NCHA Riders Hall of Fame earner of $3,401,484, is a three-time Pacific Coast Futurity champion, riding Bearly Nuf Taz LTE $51,705 in 2008; Faye Reys Sis LTE $100,742 in 2011; and Chickaroos Firefox LTE $44,293 in 2014.
John Doe LTE $28,913, who placed third in the Idaho Futurity on his way to the Pacific Coast Futurity, is an unregistered gelding bred and owned by Jim and Marilyn Crawford, Lexington, Neb. John Doe’s dam, the Smart Little Lena daughter Miss Little Marie LTE $15,532, also bred by the Crawfords, is half-sister to NCHA Futurity champion He Bea Cat LTE $401,384, Bea Pure Cat LTE $270,216 and Miss Callie Cat LTE $146,246, among 15 NCHA earners of 1,065,580 out of Mae Bea Marie, by Freckles Playboy.
Kenny Platt,the NCHA Riders Hall of Fame earner of $1,873,831, won the 2020 PCCHA Cutting Stakes on Sunday riding Little Naked Dancer LTE $45,709, by Metallic Cat.
