Little Naked Dancer wins PCCHA Cutting Stakes

 

Little Naked Dancer and Kenny Platt claimed the 2020 PCCHA Holy Cow Performance Horses Open Cutting Stakes championship with 223 points, at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas, on Sunday, October 4. The win was worth $15,000. Kat Play and Hayden Upton, with 222 points, took reserve and $13,000 in the 13-horse field, while Boondexterous and Beau Galyean placed third and earned $12,000, with 217.5 points

Owned by Hank and Karen True of Glenrock, Wyo., Little Naked Dancer LTE $30,709, by Metallic Cat, was a 2019 NCHA Futurity Open Limited finalist with Nathan Miller, and has been a finalist under Kenny Platt in this year’s 4-year-old Arbuckle Mountain and the West Texas Derbies.

Bred by the late Lannie Louise Mecom, Colorado Springs, Co., Little Naked Dancer is out of the High Brow Hickory daughter Little Belly Dancer LTE $91,208, who won the 1998 Abilene Western Derby, as well as the Augusta Futurity Classic and Kansas Futurity Classic with Lloyd Cox. Little Belly Dancer, producer of the earners $618,735, including Belly Pepper LTE $116,637 and Duals Dancer LTE $104,394, is a three-quarter sister to Woodys Wildest Cat LTE $342,510, among 19 NCHA earners of $1,350,676 out of Miss Echo Wood LTE $57,186, by Doctor Wood.

Kenny Platt is the NCHA Riders Hall of Fame earner of $1,873,831.

Kat Play LTE $28,441, a gelding sired by Kit Kat Sugar and owned by Hal Harvey Keene of Weatherford, Tex., was the third-place West Texas Derby finalist with Hayden Upton in August, as well as a Brazos Bash Amateur finalist with Keene in September. Bred by Cowan Select Horses, Kat Play is out of the Playgun daughter NQH Shadow Play LTE $18,163, a finalist in the 2004 NCHA Derby and dam of three earners of $32,845.

Hayden Upton, the NCHA earner of $342,031, was reserve champion of the 2011 PCCHA 3-Year-Old Open Futurity on Cats Date LTE $49,675, and previously won the 2009 PCCHA Non-Pro Limited Futurity and 2010 PCCHA Non-Pro Limited Cutting Stakes with Shez Cat Actin LTE $41,965, by High Brow Cat.

Boondexterous LTE $65,349, a Once In A Blu Boon gelding owned by Belle Terre Ranch, Corinth, Miss., was Open reserve champion of this year’s Cotton Stakes and placed third in the Ike Hamilton Derby under Galyean. The red roan gelding was also Non-Pro reserve champion of the Cotton Stakes with Missy Etheridge. Bred by Randle Tune, Whitesboro, Tex., Boondexterous is out of the High Brow Cat daughter Cats Smart Lady LTE $6,578, dam of the earners of $117,162.

Beau Galyean, the NCHA Riders Hall of Fame earner of $4,341,688, won the 2018 PCCHA Cutting Stakes on Rollz RoyceLTE $339,164.

The Pacific Coast Futurity continues through Oct. 10.
