Cutters welcomed Western Bloodstock’s new addition to “bidness” during the 2020 NCHA Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular and Mid-Year Cutting Horse Sale. The sale drew bids and bidders from as far away as Hawaii, both on-site at Will Rogers Equestrian Center, and remotely through Western Bloodstock’s new online bidding feature.
The Mid-Year Cutting Horse Sale, held on July 25, saw a 17% increase in average price over the 2019 Mid-Year Sale, in addition to a sales volume of 88%. It also registered the second-highest average for a summer sale in the history of Western Bloodstock.
Badaboomsmall, a 3-year-old filly sired by Metallic Cat and in training with Wesley Galyean, was the sale topper at $95,000. Consigned by Wesley & Kristen Galyean, Badaboomsmall , out of the Dual Rey daughter Reyboomsmall LTE $92,972, a full sister to Im Reydioactive LTE $172,041 was purchased by Clay & Kelsey Weeks Johnson Cutting Horses & Curtis & Brenda Weeks, Cotulla, Tex.
High-selling show horses included 5-year-old Dual Smart Zahir, an NCHA earner of $23,460, in training with Lloyd Cox. The Dual Smart Rey daughter sold for $51,000 to Susan Hanselman, Piedmont, Okla., was consigned by Rocking L Cutting Horses, LLC.
Miss Sweet CD, the earner of $18,620, brought $45,000 from SDP Buffalo Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex. The 4-year-old High Brow CD daughter, whose dam is a half-sister to All-time leading sire High Brow Cat, was consigned by Lloyd and Christina Cox and is in training with Lloyd Cox.
Five-year-old Hammer Hughes LTE $46,994, by Thomas E Hughes, was the high-selling gelding at $40,000. Trained by Austin Shepard and consigned by Joel M. Colgrove, Sr., he was purchased by Andy Wilson, Buffalo, Wyo.
Two colts topped the sale yearlings at $40,000. Square Deal was consigned by Jerry Durant and purchased by Mike Magness, Brookshire, Tex. Sired by Reyzin The Cash, Square Deal is three-quarter brother to Dual Prime Time LTE $126,772, out of Prime Time Kat LTE $145,165, a three-quarter sister to Arosesuchaclatter LTE $324,707.
Call To Arms, consigned by Hill Ranches, sold for $40,000 to Jennifer Moore, Birch Tree, Mo. The Reyzin The Cash son is out of the Docs Stylish Oak daughter Scooters Stylish Oak LTE $132,333, dam of the earners of nearly $600,000. Nineteen-year-old Scooters Stylish Oak was also consigned by Hill Ranches., and sold with a filly at side and an embryo, by Rollz Royce, to William Nix III, Blackville, SC., for $45,000.
Ruidoso, consigned by Lary Knowlton and in-training with Turner West, was the high-selling two-year at $32,000. Sired by Metallic Cat, and a half-brother to GC Counting On Kitty, LTE $213,533, out of a half-sister to Cats Full Measure LTE $241,969, he was purchased by Butch Johnson, Perrin, Tex.
