Champayne Dreams, owned by Scotty Rice and shown by Tag Rice, came through the 20-horse NCHA Derby Open Finals on Sunday, July 19, during the NCHA Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular, with third-place earnings of $19,336. But the Metallic Cat daughter left as the richest horse of the day, as winner of the $100,000 Metallic Cat Incentive, and the next morning, she was back in Will Rogers Coliseum to collect her first championship, as winner, with 225 points, of the NCHA Derby Intermediate Finals.
Sanctus, shown by Rodrigo Taboga for Scott Durham, Fort Worth, Tex., scored 222 points to claim the reserve championship, while Moms Dual Rey, bred and owned by Jerry Durant, Weatherford, Tex., and shown by Jaime Beamer, placed third with 217.5 points.
Bred by Alvin and Becky Fults, Amarillo, Tex., Champayne Dreams LTE $40,100 is out of the Dual Rey mare Hoo Rey For Dreams $173,678, dam of seven NCHA money earners, including Found My Dream LTE $34,169, by Smooth As A Cat.
Sanctus LTE $93,861, by High Brow Cat, scored 226 points to claim the NCHA Derby championship on Sunday, July 19. It was the High Brow Cat son’s fourth 2020 Open championship win and his third with 226 points. His 2020 record now stands at four wins and two reserves.
Moms Dual Rey LTE $13,645, by Dual Smart Rey, earned her first limited age event paycheck ($9,119) in the NCHA Derby Open Intermediate Finals. She is the first money earner out of the High Brow Cat daughter Moms Kitty Kitty LTE $11,441, a full sister to Moms Stilish Cat $272,810, out of Moms Stylish Pepto, the dam of earners of over $1.3 million.
On this coming Friday, July 24, a 2-year-old half- brother to Sanctus, by Spots Hot out of Sofie Rey, is being offered during the Rocking P Ranch Production Sale, a part of Western Bloodstock’s Mid-Year Cutting Horse Sale, which continues on Saturday, July 25.
