NCHA recommends approved events to postpone

NCHA RECOMMENDS APPROVED EVENTS TO POSTPONE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS

The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) strongly recommends producers of NCHA-approved events to postpone or cancel all upcoming events effective March 18 through April 20, 2020.

This suggestion follows President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency along with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendation that event organizers postpone events of more than 10 people.

The health and safety of members, show staff, exhibitors and spectators is our top priority. In light of the current events, the NCHA has postponed the Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes. Additionally, several weekend shows have postponed or canceled their upcoming events.

The NCHA recommends show producers make the decision to postpone or cancel in a timely manner to accommodate members that may need to travel to attend. If you do plan to show, please contact the corresponding show management team about the show’s status as some state and regional mandates are requiring postponement or cancellation.  Show producers should email website@nchacutting.com to communicate event cancelations.  The list will be updated in real-time throughout the next several weeks.  The most up to date list of show cancellations can be found here.

The NCHA has placed a 60-day moratorium on event approvals through May 17, 2020. Following this period, NCHA will be as accommodating as possible to reschedule or approve new events.

NCHA Program Standings will be suspended as of March 18 through May 17, 2020.  Earnings from shows during this moratorium will not be calculated for award standings for the 2020-point year but will count toward horse and rider eligibility. This timeframe may be further modified as additional directives are received from the CDC.  These standings include but are not limited to: Amateur Horse and Rider of the Year, Area Leaders, Non-Pro and Open Horse of the Year, Regional 4/5/6-year-old, Challenger and Regional Championship, Rookie of the Year, Senior World Tour, World, Youth World and Youth Rookie of the Year Standings.

These recommendations were put into place based on the current information at the time. Stipulations may be revised as the situation develops.

A current list of canceled shows can be found here.
