At the close of Non-Pro/ Non-Pro Limited first go-round competition on Monday, Dec. 2, riders with 210 points of more from both divisions advanced to either the second-go-round, beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 3, or the Non-Pro Limited Finals on Monday, Doc. 9.

Paula Wood, on homegrown Kitty Kat Boon, by Kit Kat Sugar, won the Non-Pro first go-round with 222 points.Kylie Knight Rice, riding Jae Zee, by Boon Too Suen, earned 220 points, the second-highest score from three days of competition, and also advanced with 219 points on Guantanamo Rey, by Dual Rey.

Alexa Dahl, riding Smoothie Lou Who, by Smooth As A Cat, and Austin Adams, riding Twistd Mister, by Smooth As A Cat, tied with 219.5 points, the Non-Pro go-round’s third highest score.

Junior Youth rider Caylee Shepard, Summerdale, Ala., topped the Limited Non-Pro division with 219 points aboard Notamomenttoosoon, by Boon Too Suen, while Laura Bennett, on Twice The Twist, by Dual Rey, and Erin Russell, riding Tuff Catty Dual, by Woody Be Tuff, earned 218.5 and 218 points, respectively, the Limited go-rounds second and third-highest scores.

Laura Bennett, Hereford, Tex., placed 10th in the 2019 NCHA Non-Pro Derby and third in the Derby Non-Pro Limited, riding Tictac Sugar, by Kit Kat Sugar. The NCHA earner of $36,748, Bennett also won the West Texas Futurity Non-Pro Limited on Tictac Sugar.

Twice The Twist is out of Twist Alittle Cat, a High Brow Cat daughter, who placed ninth in 2010 $3,000 Novice World standings. Twist Alittle Cat is out of Twistin Alitte LTE $130,492, bred by Kay Floyd and shown by Phil Rapp to win the 1998 Abilene Spectacular and the Bonanza Non-Pro championships.

Erin Russell, Fort Worth, Tex., is the NCHA earner of $81,453. She was an NCHA Futurity Amateur finalist in 2011 showing SB Kay Rey, by Dual Smart Rey, and in 2015 placed third on CR Boon To Be Tuff LTE $51,030, by Woody Be Tuff. Russell also won the 2014 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Non-Pro Limited showing Under Lights, by CD Lights.
