Warlock, shown by Beau Galyean for owner and breeder Fults Ranch, Amarillo, Tex., scored 225 points to win the 2019 PCCHA Open 4-Year-Old Stakes on Sunday, October 6, at South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas. Metallics MVP, owned by Billy Wolf, Whitesboro, Tex., and also shown by Galyean, scored 222 points to claim the reserve championship, while Slooow Ride, owned by Pat Taylor, and Sueper Trouper, owned by J Five Horse Ranch, tied for third with 220 points shown by Lloyd Cox and Grant Setnicka, respectively.

Warlock, a red roan gelding sired by Metallic Cat, made his debut as seventh-placed finalist under Galyean in the NCHA Futurity, and recently placed second in the Brazos Bash. His $15,000 PCCHA winner’s share, boosted Warlock’s NCHA earnings to $105,909, making him the sixth full sibling by Metallic Cat out of Sweet Abra to earn $100,000+. Metallic Rebel, 2017 NCHA Open Horse of the Year, with NCHA earnings of $411,837, tops the list of six siblings followed by Magistic Moon LTE $187,608; Magic Metallic LTE $$158,474; Magic Metalman LTE $131,348; Sweet Metallic LTE $130,962, and Warlock.

Metallics MVP, bred by Cows & Horses Etc and sired by Metallic Cat, was an NCHA Futurity Open and Open Limited finalist under Hayden Upton and has placed in five Open finals this year with Austin Shepard, including as reserve champion of the Ike Hamilton Derby. The NCHA earner of $92,281, Metallics MVP is out of My Lizzy Babe LTE $163,653, a full sister to Moms Stylish Player $370,949; Card Trick LTE $191,555; Lizzys Gotta Babe $91,137; and Stylish Lizzy LTE $90,697.

Slooow Ride, bred by Alvin Fults and sired by Metallic Cat, won the 2019 Breeders Invitational Open and placed in six other Open limited age events this year, in addition to the PCCHA Stakes, where he earned $10,500. The bay roan stallion, a half-brother to 2004 NCHA Futurity Open champion and $5 million+ sire Spots Hot, LTE $502,682, is one of four $100,000 earners out of Sweet Shorty Lena, dam of earners of over $1.3 million.

Sueper Trouper LTE $206,295, by Dual Smart Rey, has earned money in 24 divisions of major limited age events in 2019, under trainer Grant Setnicka and owner Constance Jaeggi, including the NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro championship and the Arbuckle Mountain Derby Non-Pro reserve championship. Sueper Trouper is out of Ichis My Choice $418,693, the 2016 NCHA Open Horse of the Year, who was also shown by Setnicka.
