In response to recent questions raised concerning potential governance issues, NCHA president, Ron Pietrafeso, has appointed a special committee to review the NCHA bylaws and formulate and present to the directors for discussion and consideration, general suggestions concerning various areas of the association's governance rules. The members of that special committee are longtime members of the NCHA including attorneys Lewis Stevens and Dan Churchill along with Gary Barker, Matt Gaines, and John Rutherford. The president will be calling a special directors meeting in accordance with the NCHA bylaws to be held during the 2019 Futurity for discussion of any matters identified by the special committee. You will be receiving a notice of that meeting in the next few weeks.
The purpose of the special meeting is for that committee to present general areas of potential governance change to the directors for study and feedback. We will also seek feedback from the governance, promotion and growth committee on any specific proposed bylaw changes it may have to propose. That feedback process will be thoroughly discussed at that special meeting. Once all feedback is received and discussed, specific proposed bylaw provisions can be drafted, if necessary, for consideration at the 2020 convention or sooner.
