Youth World Finals 1st Round

Cowan and Polk take the lead during the first round.

Makayla Cowan of Ardmore, Okla. marked 218 on Brinking Lights to lead the first round of the Holy Cow Performance Horses Senior Youth World Finals. She came into the World Finals tied for 11th place in the World Standings. She and Brinking Lights won the Senior Youth championship at The Non-Pro Cutting this year, and were champions of that show’s $15,000 Amateur class last year.

Jimmie Annoot placed second in the first round of the World Finals with a 217.5 on Smooth Flowing Cat. Christina Huntley, who is leading the world, placed third with a 217 on Ripping Ichi.

Lyndi Polk of Edwards, Miss., marked 222.5 to lead the first round of the Junior Youth World Finals, moving into the lead for the World Championship. They were Junior Youth finalists at the NCHA Eastern Nationals earlier this year. Polk came into the World Finals ranked second in the standings, just one point behind Charles Cody Gann.

Breanna Collier marked 219 for second in the first round of the World Finals, riding Smartys Boon. Gann placed third with a 218.5 on Hevvy Metal.

The Holy Cow Performance Horses NYCHA World Finals continue Thurdsay and conclude on Friday, July 26.
