Junior Scholarship Go-Round

223 for Brody Magby in Junior Youth Scholarship round

Brody Magby, Wilburton, Okla., scored 223 points with One Sneaky Bluegrass on Tuesday, to top the go-round of the Junior Youth division of the NCHA Foundation Scholarship Cutting. Emma Rapp, Weatherford, Tex., was second with 222 points on Reyzin, and Will Bushaw, Weatherford, Tex., was third with 220.5 points aboard Velvets Revolver.

Thirteen-year-old Brody Magby qualified for his first NCHA Scholarship Cutting Finals in 2015, when he was nine, riding Checkers Live Oak. He placed third in the Finals in 2017 with Little Moria Kittens, and seventh last year on One Sneaky Bluegrass. Sired by Bluegrass Cat, 6-year-old One Sneaky Bluegrass LTE $121,728 is owned by Browne Enterprises LLP, Wilburton, Okla., and was shown last week by Eric Magby, to place fourth in both the NCHA Classic Challenge Open Finals and the Open Limited Finals.

Emma Rapp, 13, claimed the reserve championship of the NCHA Scholarship Cutting in 2017 and 2018 riding Reyzin LTE $417,007, the NCHA Non-Pro Horse of the Year in 2013, shown by Mary Ann Rapp. Owned by Gale Force Quarter Horses, Conway, S.C., Reyzin, sired by High Brow CD, was bred by Emma’s parent, Phil and Mary Ann Rapp, and trained and shown by Phil Rapp. Emma is also showing Reyzin this week in the Holy Cow Performance Horses Junior Youth World Finals.

Will Bushaw was a Junior Youth Scholarship finalist last year showing Velvets Revolver, and he placed in the 2018 NYCHA World Finals with Smooth As A Twist. Will is also the NCHA earner of $62,519 and a three-time NCHA Futurity Amateur Finalist. Seven-year-old Velvets Revolver LTE $270,604, by WR This Cats Smart, is owned by Crown Ranch LP, Weatherford, Tex.
