Madison Crum, Weatherford, Tex., scored 220 points on Call Me Catniss to top competition on Sunday, July 21, as the Metallic Cat NCHA Classic Challenge Rios of Mercedes Amateur and McAlister Assets Amateur Unlimited go-round continued. Jacob Wayne Little, Carter, Okla., claimed the day’s second-highest score, 218 points, on Bet Hes Amazing, and Hunter Williams, Nolan, Tex., was third with 217.5 points on Way To Naughty, the same score that he marked Saturday aboard Little Naughty Kitty, in the NCHA Derby Rios of Mercedes Amateur go-round.

Madison Crum, the 2016 NCHA LAE Rookie of the Year and NCHA earner of $130,740, had been a 2017 NCHA Classic Challenge Amateur Finalist riding Metallictoy LTE $96,820. Earlier this year, Crum claimed the Breeders Invitational Non-Pro Limited reserve championship with El Doreydo LTE $33,698, by Dual Rey, who she qualified for this Thursday’s Derby Amateur Unlimited Finals, along with Kual Dual, by Dual Pep.

Call Me Catniss LTE $48,074, Crum’s Classic Challenge mount, has been successfully shown in Open limited age events by Geoffrey Sheehan. The 6-year-old High Brow Cat daughter is a three-quarter sister to Tuned Up To Drive LTE $122,761, by Hydrive Cat. Sheehan also showed Candi Cat LTE $90,725 to split fifth through eighth place in the Classic Chellenge Open Finals. Candi Cat and Call Me Catniss are both owned by Beechfork Ranch.

Jacob Little, the NCHA earner of $54,796, showed Bet Hes Amazing LTE $35,592, by Bet Hesa Cat, to earn money in 10 limited age events last year, including the Brazos Bash, where he won the Amateur championship. He also claimed reserve championships in both the Amateur and Amateur Unlimited Finals of the 2018 West Texas Futurity. Earlier this year, Little and his 5-year-old gelding placed eighth in the NCHA Super Stakes Classic Amateur Unlimited. Bet Hes Amazing is the only foal to be shown out of an unshown daughter of Peptoboonsmal.

Hunter Williams, the NCHA earner of $63,217, showed Way To Naughty LTE $22,553 to place seventh in this year’s Amateur Finals of The Non-Pro Cutting. The 5-year-old Dual Rey daughter was also a 2017 NCHA Futurity Amateur Unlimited finalist under Hardy Rogers. Hunter Williams, the 2007 NCHA Senior Youth Rookie of the Year, won The Non-Pro Amateur 5/6 Classic on Baretta Boon LTE $57,799, who he also showed as an Amateur and Non-Pro finalist in more than a dozen limited age events.
