My Beach My Wave, the first horse to the herd in the 13-horse finals, and Lonnie Earl, the last to the herd, tied for reserve with 219 points under Dylan Meyer and Troy Riddle, respectively. Six-year-old Im Highly Decorated LTE $25,328 made his Fort Worth debut as a 2016 NCHA Futurity Amateur Unlimited Semi-Finalist with Norda Berger, and in 2017 was an Open finalist in three major events with Lloyd Cox. Out of High Classed Model LTE $86,946, by Gallo Del Cielo, Im Highly Decorated is a half-brother to the Spots Hot gelding High Classed Hottie LTE $155,824, who was also bred by the Bergers.
Thomas Bray, Rosenberg, Tex., is the NCHA earner of $90,100. His biggest previous win came as champion of the 2015 Waco Texas Futurity 3-Year-Old Open Limited on Dulce Kitty, by Little Dulces Rey.
Five-year-old My Beach My Wave LTE $51,402 has been shown successfully in Amateur and Non-Pro limited age events by both Kim Davis and son Bear Davis, as well as by Dylan Meyer in Open competition. Most recently, Kim placed in the 2019 Pacific Coast Derby 5/6 Amateur Intermediate Finals and Bear placed in the 2019 NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro Limited.
Yesterday, Dylan Meyer also showed Whit and Kim Davis’s Rockin W daughter Rockin KW LTE $129,145 to qualify with 438 points (216 and 222) for the Classic Challenge Open Finals, to be held on Wednesday, July 17. Meyer, who lives in Jackson, Calif., is the NCHA earner of $354,489.
Lonnie Earl LTE $18,343, a 5-year-old Spots Hot son bred by Charles Burger and owned by Terry Riddle, earned money this year under Troy Riddle, as a finalist in The Non-Pro Open Classic and Open Intermediate Finals. Troy Riddle, the NCHA earner of $535,260, won the 1993 NCHA Futurity Open Limited riding Playboys Perfecta, by Freckles Playboy.
Eric Magby, Wilburton, Okla., showed One Sneaky Bluegrass, owned by Browne Enterprises LLP, to earn 217.5 points, the third-highest score in Sunday’s Finals. One Sneaky Bluegrass, a 6-year-old sired by Bluegrass Cat, also qualified with 438 points (220 and 218) for this Wednesday’s Classic Challenge Finals.
The Metallic Cat NCHA Summer Spectacular continues on Monday, July 15, with the Classic Challenge Non-Pro and Non-Pro Limited first go-round.
