The National Cutting Horse Association is proud to announce its partnership with Kit Kat Sugar to be the title sponsor for the 2019 Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic. The 2019 Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic will be held March 28 through April 20 in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Will Rogers Memorial Center.
Lewis Wray, Interim Executive Director for NCHA, said the three-year partnership is a huge step forward for the NCHA Super Stakes and is looking forward to the upcoming Super Stakes event.
“We especially want to thank Barbara Allsup and Pete Branch for their generosity,” said Wray. “We are grateful to have their support, and this partnership is made even more special being that Kit Kat Sugar was the 2012 Super Stakes Reserve Champion. We couldn’t be more enthusiastic for this year’s event.”
Pete Branch, long-time trainer for the Allsup family and rider of “Skeet” during his cutting tenure, said he is excited for the opportunity this partnership brings.
“The Allsup family, along with myself, have been long-time members of the association, and are honored and thrilled to support the NCHA and the Super Stakes,” said Branch. “We will be proud to see Kit Kat Sugar’s logo on the back wall during the Super Stakes.”
Kit Kat Sugar, owned by Barbara Allsup of Clovis, New Mexico, is a 2008 stallion by High Brow Cat and Sugar N Dulce, and has accumulated NCHA lifetime earnings of nearly $250,000. In addition to earnings, Kit Kat Sugar received NCHA’s prestigious Open Horse of the Year award in 2012. The 2011 World Championship Futurity Finalist continued to leave his mark on the industry, earning multiple Championships, Reserve Championships, and Top 15 placements during his cutting tenure.
Skeet’s offspring has gone on to have a major impact in the performance horse industry, including NCHA and NRCHA. Most recently, nearly 20 foals made the semi-finals at the 2018 NCHA World Championship Futurity. The NCHA tips their hat to the Allsup family and the outstanding stallion, and we look forward to seeing more history take place at the 2019 Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic.
