The NCHA Futurity Cutting Horse Sale on Saturday, December 8, brought the six-day venue of 2018 NCHA Futurity Sales to a close. From the first day to the last, sales were exceptionally strong, as reflected in the overall final numbers: average of $22,411; 83% horses sold; 17 sold for $100,000, or more. In addition, Tin Man, by Metallic Cat, brought the all-time record of $500,000 for a two-year-old.
On Saturday, Sancho Cat, by Metallic Cat, topped the NCHA Futurity Cutting Horse Sale with a winning bid of $47,000 from Steven Norris, Colorado Springs, Colo. Consigned by Milt and Mary Bradford, the 7-year-old red roan gelding earned $94,179 as a limited age event amateur finalist, and was still active in 2018 events. His dam, CJ Sancha LTE $48,388, by CJ Sugar, placed third in the 2004 NCHA Futurity Limited Finals.
Catsonova, a 5-year-old red roan gelding by Metallic Cat, the day’s second-highest seller, brought $43,500 from Colin Van Den Brink, Chilliwack, BC. Consigned by Philip Wilson, Catsonova LTE $13,049 was a 2016 NCHA Futurity Amateur and Amateur Unlimited Semi-Finalist, and sold in training with Bill Riddle.
Fadie Lou, a 4-year-old daughter of Woody Be Tuff and the earner of $83,385, sold for $40,000 to Dustin Adams, Springtown, Tex. Consigned by Kevin and Sidney Knight, Fadie Lou’s most recent win came as the Brazos Bash Non-Pro champion under Kylie Knight Rice. She sold in training with Tatum Rice.
