Lance Cooper, Weatherford, Tex., last year’s NYCHA World Finals Junior Youth champion on Light N Lily, scored 223 points on Friday with Fancy Rey to win the 2018 NCHA Senior Youth Scholarship Cutting. Ryan Rapp, Weatherford, Tex., claimed reserve with 220.5 points on Dont Stopp Believin, while Jessica Pietrafeso, Elbert, Colo., placed third with 220 points riding Spookystimetoshine.
Lance Cooper, who won his first Youth title in the 2013 Junior Youth Scholarship Cutting aboard A Little Bossy LTE $403,677, by CD Lights, won the 2017 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited on Zen And Tonic LTE $128,609, by High Brow CD, and racked up 10 more Non-Pro and Non-Pro Limited wins this year on the High Brow CD daughter.
Lance, the NCHA earner of $223,523, showed the 7-year-old Dual Rey daughter Fancy Rey $132,470, owned by Charles Burger, Chatsworth, Georgia, in this year’s Senior Scholarship Cutting.

Ryan Rapp, 2015 NCHA Junior Youth Rookie of the Year and NCHA earner of $187,237, was reserve champion in the 2017 NYCHA Senior Youth World Finals riding Im Reydioactive LTE $140, 944. This year he placed fourth and fifth, respectively, riding Manteca Moe LTE $187,237, by Hydrive Cat, in the NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro Finals and Non-Pro Limited Finals. He also showed Poor Lil Guy LTE $15,609, by Kit Kat Sugar, to place third in the 2018 Breeders Invitational Non-Pro Novice and Non-Pro Limited.
Jessica Pietrefeso, the NCHA earner of $39,213, won the NCHA Western Nationals $15,000 Amateur in 2016 with Hal Ofa Filly LTE $73,722, by Halreycious, who she also rode to place tenth in this year’s NCHA Western Nationals Senior Youth division. Purely Badger LTE $102,535, by Reys Dual Badger, carried her as a finalist in the 2018 NCHA Western Nationals $35,000 Non-Pro division, as well.
