Langston Pattillo, St. Elmo, Ill., and his gelding High Stylin CD won the Classic Challenge Amateur Unlimited Semi-Finals on Wednesday night. The pair came back Thursday to claim the Classic Challenge Rios of Mercedes Amateur championship with 223 points and will be on board Friday morning for the Amateur Unlimited Finals.

Taylor Worley, Newkirk, Okla., scored 221 points on Blitzkat for the Classic Challenge Amateur reserve championship, while Hilary Watson, Overland Park, Kan., placed third with 218.5 points on Iridescent Cat.

This has been a banner year for Langston Pattillo, 16, who also qualified Dualin Smooth Legacy for the Unlimited Amateur Finals. It was 5-year-old Dualin Smooth Legacy LTE $40,817, by Smooth As A Cat, that carried him to the championship of the 2018 PCCHA Derby Amateur Classic and co-championship of the  2018 NCHA Super Stakes Amateur Classic. While 5-year-old High Stylin CD LTE $68,058, by High Brow CD, and Pattillo won the 2018 Breeders Invitational Amateur Classic and the 2018 Bonanza Amateur Classic, as well as the NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro Limited and the Abilene Spectacular Classic Amateur Unlimited. Pattillo is the NCHA earner of $126,190.

Taylor Worley, the NCHA earner of $18,855, launched her limited age event career this year by placing sixth aboard Blitzkat in the NCHA Super Stakes Amateur Classic. She then claimed the reserve championship of the Breeders Invitational Amateur riding 4-year-old My Pinky Promise LTE $6,868, by High Brow CD.

Five-year-old Blitzkat LTE $42,213, by Metallic Cat, was a 2016 NCHA Futurity Open semi-finalist under Tommy Marvin, who also showed the gelding as a finalist in the 2018 Breeders Invitational.

Hilary Watson, the NCHA earner of $274,805, rode One Alley Cat LTE $61,765 earlier this year to tie for third in the Super Stakes Amateur Unlimited and placed second in the Bonanza Amateur Unlimited Classic with Reychel LTE $27,263.

Six-year-old Iridescent Cat LTE $96,192, by Catty Hawk, won the 2017 Southern Futurity with Cullen Chartier, who also showed One Alley Cat this year to win the Abilene Spectacular Open. Smart Lookin Hi Brow LTE $216,395, Iridescent Cat’s dam, won the 1999 NCHA Derby Open under Lloyd Cox.
