While first go-round competition in the Classic Challenge Amateur/Unlimited Amateur continued for the second of three days, in the 2018 NCHA/Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular, NCHA Youth riders launched the pinnacle competition of their year – the NCHA Junior and Senior World Finals, and the NCHA Junior and Senior Youth Scholarship Cutting.
The first of three days of NYCHA Youth World Finals competition saw Faith Farris, Midway, Tex., top the Junior Youth with 218 points on Smooth Serena Rey, sired by Smooth As A Cat and owned by Jimmy Farris. Ali Good, Ringling, Okla., marked 221 in the Senior division riding Cat Atat Cat, trained by her grandfather Bill Riddle, who showed the High Brow Cat gelding as reserve champion of the 2015 NCHA Classic Challenge Open.
Faith Farris most recently showed Smooth Serena Rey to place as a Junior Youth finalist in the 2018 NCHA Eastern Nationals. Last year, Faith won the NCHA Scottsdale Junior Youth Nationals championship on Reytheon LTE $216,499, by Dual Rey, and won the AQHYA World Cutting on Quite The Fat Cat LTE $247,154, by Mr Peppys Freckles.
Ali Good and Cat Atat Cat LTE $100,230 won this year’s NCHA Western Nationals Non-Pro championship, as well as the NCHA Eastern Nationals Senior Youth title, and the Eastern Nationals $25,000 Novice Non-Pro division. Last December, she also claimed the NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited championship aboard Sneakish LTE $20,866, by Hottish.
Will Bushaw, Weatherford, Tex., an NYCHA Junior Youth World Finalist, also topped Monday’s Junior Youth Summer Scholarship go-round with 221 points aboard Velvets Revolver LTE $227,816, by WR This Cats Smart. Cash Ashlock, Abilene, Tex., scored 219.5 points riding Little Miss One Time LTE $218,117, by One Time Pepto, and Emma Grace Rapp, Weatherford, Tex., and Makenzie Cowan, Ardmore, Okla., tied with 219 points in third place with Reyzin LTE $414,288, by High Brow CD, and Exclusive Thyme LTE $109,404, by One Time Pepto, respectively.
