Bear Davis, Millsap, Tex., riding My Beach My Wave, by Metallic Cat, scored 219 points on Thursday to win the Super Stakes Non-Pro second go-round and earn a cumulative score of 431. Megan Miller, winner of the first go-round with 220 points on Carolena Reyn, by Dual Smart Rey, earned the high cumulative score of 435.5 points for both go-rounds.
Forty-nine riders with cumulative scores of 428 points or higher advanced to Friday’s Non-Pro Semi-Finals. Megan Miller also earned 432.5 points on Spur That Cat, by Spots Hot, and 428 on Hey Boo Boo, by Dual Smart Rey. The top sires, with three or more semi-finalists from the field of 49, are Metallic Cat (8); Smooth As A Cat (6); Kit Kat Sugar (4); Woody Be Tuff (4); Dual Smart Rey (3); and Hottish (3).
Bear Davis, the NCHA earner of $150,066, won the NCHA Super Stakes Amateur Unlimited championship and the 2016 Breeders invitational Amateur aboard Red Solo Catt LTE $128,365, by Metallic Cat. He also showed Dont Poke The Bear LTE $19,004, by Dual Smart Rey, as a finalist (6th) in the 2017 NCHA Futurity Amateur Unlimited and as a semi-finalist in the 2017 Futurity Non-Pro.
My Beach My Wave also carried Davis as an NCHA Futurity Amateur Unlimited semi-finalist, Dont Poke The Bear and Red Solo Catt earned Bear reserve championships in the 2018 Abilene Spectacular 4-Year-Old Non-Pro Limited and 5/6-Year-Old Non-Pro Limited, respectively.
