The cut that counted on Saturday, was the 213.5-point bubble score that admitted first go-round competitors to the Super Stakes Open second go-round beginning Sunday, April 15. Leading the 168-horse advance (from 273 entries), with 222 points, were Judgement Day, by High Brow Cat, and Mister Metallic, by Metallic Cat, who made their marks on Friday, and were joined by Im Quintan Checks, by Im Countin Checks, and Hott Nu Cowboy, by Hottish, who scored 222 points on Saturday.

Im Quintan Checks LTE $50,620, owned and bred by Circle Y Ranch, Millsap, Tex., and shown by John Sanislow, made his debut in the 2017 NCHA Futurity, where he placed in the Open and the Open Limited finals. Earlier this year, he was a finalist in the Abilene Spectacular Open and the Augusta Futurity Open.
Out of Quintan Blue $594,637, a leading producer of earners of $1,013,422, Im Quintan Checks is a half-brother to, among others, Blue One Time $252,869, by One Time Pepto; Cat Man Blue LTE $228,148, by High Brow Cat; and QB Cat $184,557, by High Brow Cat.
John Sanislow, NCHA earner of $234,523, won the 2014 West Texas Futurity 5/6 Open Limited aboard Cha Ching And Change for Circle Y Ranch, and in 2015 earned eight more Open Limited championship titles on Im Countin Checks-sired horses for Circle Y Ranch, the stallion’s owner.
Sanislow also scored 215.5 points on Ms Wendel Reycine, by High Brow CD, for Circle Y Ranch.
Hott Nu Cowboy, shown by Phil Rapp, was bred by Wrigley Ranches and is owned by Bobby and Mary Jo Hawkins, Seguin, Tex. The Hottish colt, NCHA earner of $976, is out of Special Nu Kitty LTE $301,268 and a half-brother to Special Nu Boon LTE $135,717, by Boon Too Soon.
Phil Rapp, the sport’s all-time leading money earner, as well as a leading breeder of cutting horses, also scored 218.5 points aboard Dont Happen Twice, owned by Waco Bend Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex.
