Obituary

Mary Lynne “Muffy” Rogers peacefully departed this world on February 18, 2018, with her family by herside. Mary was born in Chula Vista, California. She attended Orme School in Mayer, Arizona and then attended the University of Wyoming her freshman year. In Laramie, she first met Glenn Rogers Jr when they drag raced. She continued her education at California Western University in San Diego, California where she graduated with a degree in Education. She then moved to Buffalo and taught third grade at Clear Creek School for two years. Glenn and Muffy married at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in 1964. They then made their home on the T Up T Down Ranch where they enjoyed the ranching lifestyle for nearly 54 years. During this time, they raised two sons: Glenn Maxwell “Max” and Scott Allen. Over the course of her lifetime, she pursued three hobbies: golf, gardening and, most of all, HORSES. She hauled her horses throughout the West showing and winning from Fort Worth, Texas to Calgary, Alberta and all states in between. She also contributed numerous years to the Wyoming Cutting Horse Association as secretary and treasurer. Muffy was well respected and well known within the cutting industry as a fierce and successful competitor riding her trusty steed, SR Heir Presumptive. She developed lifelong friendships with competitors and many others she met along the way. Muffy never met a stranger and touched so many with her compassion, humor, sincerity, and knowledge. She was a joy to be around and the perfect hostess to all that visited her beautiful ranch, sat with her around her horse trailer, rode with her in a golf cart, and sat at her kitchen table as she prepared her wonderful meals. Muffy was known for her infectious humor as well as being a grand lady. So many people were drawn to her personality and beauty. She reciprocated with was her genuine desire to personally know everyone she met. She was a lifetime Member of the National Cutting Horse Association along with numerous cutting affiliates, the American Quarter Horse Association, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Colonial Dames of America. Muffy was preceded in death by her father, George Virgil Johnson, her mother, Mildred Jane Lewis, and her older brother, George Maxwell Johnson. She is survived by her husband Glenn, her sons Scott and Max, granddaughters Briana (24) and Isabella (14), and son Scott plus Milo (her faithful dog). She will be greatly missed by all those she touched. A Celebration of her Life is being planned for early May at the T Up T Down Ranch.
