The cutting horse, rodeo, and equine discipline industries all across the nation will take an enormous blow in terms of transportation, come December 18, 2017. Shawn, from Protect the Harvest, has offered some insight on these, seemingly "new", laws. Unfortunately, this mandate is not new, and was buried under language and logistics for years. In fact, it was first written in 2012, but it was not brought to the light until Forrest Lucas, of Lucas Oil, caught wind of this mandate. Having had three different attorneys study the language in this mandate, it had been confirmed that members of the NCHA who travel more than 150 miles from their home to show will be affected by this ELD Mandate.
Essentially, the mandate requires that hauling agricultural means, whether it be livestock or commodities, will require an Electronic Logging Device inside the vehicle, even if it for personal use.

In any case, we want our members to be informed on these matters. Shawn will be at his booth in the trade show all week here at the NCHA Futurity. Feel free to come in and ask questions. He is extremely knowledgeable and is ready and willing to inform and educate.
