FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
COLLEGIATE CUTTING HORSE JUDGING CONTEST
Fort Worth, TX – October 11, 2017 – On December 1-2, 2017, during the 2017 Great American Insurance Group NCHA World Championship Futurity presented by Jerry’s Chevrolet, the National Cutting Horse Association will host the Waco Bend Ranch 2107 NCHA Collegiate Cutting Horse Judging Contest. The NCHA is excited to produce and promote this event, as it will help generate a new interest among our younger generation of agricultural and equine enthusiasts.
The NCHA is proud to announce Waco Bend Ranch, owned by Louis and Corliss Baldwin, will be the title sponsor of this event.
“It’s important to nurture the minds of our youth,” says Baldwin. “If we can generate their excitement and fuel their passion for agriculture and ranching, we can build a desirable future for existing, and approaching, generations.
Likewise, this event will not only provide a more in-depth educational aspect of cutting horse events, it will help the younger generation of equine enthusiasts understand how to recognize a well-rounded performance in the arena, as well as outside of one. Many of today’s agricultural professionals took part in a judging team of some sort in earlier years and are now looked up to by current students. We hope to provide that opportunity for those who wish to become more involved in a friendly, learning environment that is joined with healthy competition.
“Teaching these young adults to pursue their dreams byway of an educational process is our ultimate goal. We want them to succeed in all that they do, and if we can provide them with the tools necessary to accomplish this, then we have done our job,” says Chuck Smith, NCHA Executive Director.
The contest will include a rulebook test, penalty clip test, and the scoring of two sets of runs. Although the contestants will be judging cutting horses, we would like to encourage all youth from all disciplines to participate in this event. By making these demonstrations available to its participants, the NCHA desires to make this an investment in younger generations so that they may, one day, be able to thrive from this experience and gain more knowledge of their own abilities and that of their equine counterparts. The future of the NCHA fully rests in the hands of those who will take on the legacies that will, one day, be left behind. We cherish the traditional aspect of cutting and the sense of community this great sport brings to all.
We appreciate the support we have received from Waco Bend Ranch in order to pursue this endeavor, once again. If you would like to know more on the Waco Bend Ranch 2017 NCHA Collegiate Cutting Horse Judging Contest, please contact Jennifer Zoller, Extension Horse Program Specialist at 979-862-5980.
