Lindy Ashlock, Abilene, Tex., and Greg Coalson, Weatherford, Tex., split the win with 219 points in the Brazos Bash Derby Non-Pro Finals, on the final weekend of the 2017 Brazos Bash at Silverado Arena, in Weatherford, Tex. Ashlock, on Catin Safari, and Coalson, riding Catywompus, each earned $13,197.50 with scores of 219 points, while third-placed Michelle Cowan, with 216 points aboard Pink Catty, took home $10,000.

Ty Moore, Madill, Okla., co-champion of the 2017 Brazos Bash Non-Pro Futurity, claimed the Brazos Bash Classic Non-Pro championship and $15,000 with 219.5 points on Set Fire To The Reyn, while Alexa Stent, Aledo, Tex., scored 219 points for reserve and $13,000 riding Peeptos Cat. Mary Ann Rapp placed third with 218 points and earned $11,000 on Dont Stopp Believin.

Catin Safari LTE $46,967, by Cats Moonshine, has carried Ashlock as a non-pro finalist in six major limited age events, including as reserve champion of the Breeders Invitational and as third-placed finalist in the Augusta Futurity. Ashlock and Catin Safari have also claimed wins in two non-pro gelding divisions, including the Brazos Bash Derby, and went reserve in the 4-year-old non-pro gelding division of the El Rancho Futurity. Ashlock also won the 2017 NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro championship riding In Reyverse LTE $87,653, by Dual Rey.

Catwompus LTE $63,548 carried Greg Coalson as non-pro reserve champion of the 2016 NCHA Futurity. The pair also won the 4-year-old gelding division of the 2017 West Texas Futurity and placed second in the same division of the Cotton Stakes. Catywompus, by Highbrow Cat, was bred by Coalson out of Dualinisalena LTE $89,780, who was sired by Coalson’s homegrown stallion Quejanaisalena LTE $329,571.

Set Fire To The Reyn LTE $98,097 and Ty Moore claimed non-pro reserve titles in the Breeders Invitational Classic and the Arbuckle Mountain Classic earlier in 2017, placed fourth in the NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro. Five-year-old Set Fire To The Reyn is a Dual Rey daughter out of Sheza Smart Cat LTE $100,103. Sweet Sister Cat, Moore’s 3-year-old Metallic Cat daughter, is currently three-for-three with non-pro championship wins under Moore in the West Texas Futurity, the Cotton Stakes Futurity, and the Brazos Bash Futurity. Nadine Payne, Overbrook, Okla., riding Peaceful Ez Feelin, by Lizzys Gotta Player, split the Brazos Bash Non-Pro Futurity title with Moore.

The 2017 Brazos Bash marked Alexa Stent’s first finals performance aboard Peeptos Cat LTE $83,829, although Matt Gaines has shown the 6-year-old Cat Ichi daughter as an open finalist in eight major events, including as reserve champion of the 2017 Bonanza Classic. Alexa Stent also showed 5-year-old Bowmerang LTE $45,071 as a finalist in the Brazos Bash Classic Non-Pro and won the gelding division with the High Brow Cat son. Both Peeptos Cat and Bowmerang were bred by Stent’s parents, Nora and Peter Stent.

Six-year-old Don’t Stopp Believin LTE $287,747, by Dual Rey, has been shown by Phil Rapp, Mary Ann’s husband, as an open finalist in 19 major limited age events, including 2017 championship wins in the Augusta Futurity 5/6 Classic and the Cattlemen’s Derby 5/6 Classic. Mary Ann, the winner of over $4.5 million and cutting’s all-time leading non-pro money earner, won the 2008 Brazos Bash Futurity Non-Pro on Neat Little Ray.
