NYCHA World Finals

The NCHA Summer Spectacular marks the end of one show season and the beginning of another for Youth competitors and is the highlight of their year. The 2017 High Brow CD NYCHA Junior and Senior World Finals, held on Friday, July 28 were also a highlight for spectators who cheered on the tough and talented youngsters who represent the future of the sport.

Ryan Rapp, 16, Weatherford, Tex., came into the NYCHA Senior World Finals as the unbeatable point leader and built on his base with go-round scores of 220, 221 and 219. Ryan ended the year as 2017 NYCHA Senior World Champion with 190 points. His mount for the finals was 7-year-old Im Reydioactive LTE $121,280, sired by Dual Rey and owned by his parents, Phil and Mary Ann Rapp.

Ryan, the NCHA earner of $105,778, also placed sixth in the 2017 Senior Youth Scholarship Cutting riding Don’t Stopp Believin and won the 2015 Junior Youth Cutting on Spookystimetoshine.

Lance Cooper, 18, Weatherford, Tex., was the undefeated 2017 NYCHA Senior Light n Lilly Youth World Finals champion. He won all three go-rounds, with scores of 227, 223 and 227 points, had the aggregate high score of 677 points, and moved up in year-end standings from 5/7 to fourth place.

Lance, the NCHA earner of $91,600, showed 10-year-old Light N Lily LTE $279,652, sired by Light N Lena and owned by Billy Martin. He also won the 2013 NYCHA Junior Youth Cutting riding A Little Bossy LTE $403,667, sired by CD Lights.

Christina Huntley, Houston, Tex., is the 2017 NYCHA Senior Youth Reserve Champion. Christina showed 12-year-old Smart Frosty Cat LTE $185,007, sired by Smooth As A Cat and owned by E.J. Huntley, in the Senior Youth World Finals, , where she scored 222 points and earned the fourth-highest aggregate in the second go-round. Christina and Smart Frosty Cat also won the 2016 NYCHA Senior World Finals.

Jade Mitchell, Weatherford, Tex., won the 2017 High Brow CD NYCHA Junior Jade MitchellWorld Finals with go-round scores of 217.5, 224 and 220 points for an aggregate of 661.5 points. Jade showed 7-year-old Junie Wood LTE $524,171, the 2014 NCHA Open Horse of the Year, sired by Nitas Wood and owned by Glade Knight. Jade and Junie Wood were also finalists in the 2017 NCHA Junior Youth Scholarship Cutting.

Charles Russell Bushaw, Weatherford, Tex., had an aggregate of 647.5, the second-highest from the Junior Youth World Finals, with go-round scores of 225, 201 and 221.5 points. Charles Russell showed 8-year-old Peptotoodie LTE $157,887, sired by Peptotime and owned by his parents, Chad and Amie Bushaw. Most recently, prior to the Summer Spectacular, Charles Russell and Peptotoodie won the Junior Youth division of the NCHA Eastern Nationals.

Ryann Packard, Sun City, Kansas, the 2016 NCHA Western Nationals on MK Lollie Pop, finished the year as 2017 Junior Youth World Champion. Ryann showed Sir Stylish Lizzy LTE $217,929, sired by Lizzys Gotta Player and owned by RPX Enterprises, in the Junior World Finals, where she earned an aggregate of 610 points. She also placed third in the 2017 NCHA Classic Challenge Non-Pro Limited, earlier in the Summer Spectacular, on Peptos Scootin Man.

Faith Farris, Midway, Tex., who scored 220 points in the first go-round of the Junior Youth World Finals on her own horse 12-year-old Quite The Fat Cat LTE $244,700, by Mr Peppy Freckles, finished her year as 2017 Junior Youth World Reserve Champion. Faith also won the 2017 NCHA Scottsdale Nationals Junior Youth riding Reytheon LTE $216,499, by Dual Rey.
