Lauren McIntire, Santa Barbara, Calif., scored 221 points on Peptos Chic Olena, as the high-scoring rider in the $35,000 Non-Pro go-round Sunday at the NCHA Scottsdale National Championships. Riders who scored 207 points or above advanced to Monday’s finals, including Shelley Wold, Murrieta, Calif., who scored 218.5 points, the go-round’s second-highest mark, on Shotgun Sean, and Gianna Pietrafeso, Elbert, Colo., with 218 points riding Smokin Tap.

Lauren McIntireLauren McIntire lifetime earner of $29,269, won the 2016 Pacific Coast Winter Roundup 5/6 Non-Pro championship and Non-Pro Gelding division on I Like It This Rey. Peptos Chic Olena, by Sweet Lil Pepto, her NCHA Scottsdale Nationals mount, was an NCHA Open World Finals and NCHA World Series finalist 12 times between 2012 and 2016.

Shelley Wold, the NCHA earner of $72,914, showed Shotgun Sean in the NCHA World Finals $50,000 Amateur, as well as in The Non-Pro Cutting $35,000 Non-Pro finals. Shotgun Sean LTE $140,054 is a 13-year-old gelding sired by Chula Dual.

Gianna Pietrafeso was the NCHA Summer Spectacular Junior Youth Champion in 2014 riding Smokin Tap. Her sister Jessica won the NCHA Western Nationals $15,000 in 2016 on Hal Ofa Filly, and her sister Nicole won the Scottsdale Nationals Senior Youth this year on Purely Badger. Twelve-year-old Smokin Tap LTE $74,941, is by Smokin Trona and out of Tap O Lena LTE $450,639, with offspring earnings of $613,113, and granddam of 2011 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Dont Look Twice LTE $824,546.
