TQHA MEMBERS AWARDED $100,000 AT 2022 NCHA KIT KAT SUGAR SUPER STAKES

FORT WORTH – Texas Quarter Horse Association (TQHA) members who competed and won on Texas bred horses had an additional 100,000 reasons to celebrate at the 2022 NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes held at the historic Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. The TQHA announced earlier this year that the $100,000 incentive program would return for its second year at the Super Stakes, and the third year of the program with NCHA. The TQHA incentive program pays out to the three highest placing eligible horses in the Open, Non-Pro, and Amateur divisions of the Classic.

“The Texas Quarter Horse Association continues to be a valued partner of the NCHA,” said Jay Winborn, NCHA executive director. “The addition of the TQHA Incentive has brought added value to members in both of our associations. To have an incentive like this incorporated in the Super Stakes will only help to grow our sport and promote both of our industries.”

In order to be eligible for the incentive, both owners and riders had to be current TQHA members whose horses were registered with the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and foaled in the state of Texas.

“We are proud to partner with such a fantastic organization,” said Rob Werstler, TQHA executive director. “The sport of cutting has a strong history within the state of Texas, and we are excited to offer our congratulations to each of our TQHA members who received the incentive and look forward to continuing to promote the Texas quarter horse industry as a whole.”

The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) congratulates the following winners of the $100,000 TQHA Incentive:

Open Division Winners– 7 Eligible Finalists– $50,000 Total Prize Money

Sanctus, piloted by Adan Banuelos of Granbury, Texas, marked a 223.5 in the Open finals to win the $25,000 Incentive. Sanctus is a 2016 stallion owned by Scott Durham of Fort Worth, Texas.

The second-highest placing eligible horse was Kit Kat Apple ridden by Lloyd Cox of Marietta, Oklahoma, who scored a 222 during the Open finals to claim the $15,000 Incentive. Kit Kat Apple, a 2017 mare, is owned by Michael Kemna of Valley View, Texas.

Rounding out the TQHA Incentive Open division winners was DMAC Open Carry shown by Clint Allen of Weatherford, Texas, who marked a 218.5 in the Open finals to earn the $10,000 Incentive. DMAC Open Carry is a 2017 gelding owned by David and Stacie McDavid of Fort Worth, Texas.

Non-Pro Division Winners – 20 Eligible Finalists– $25,000 Total Prize Money

Ryan Rapp of Weatherford, Texas, aboard Next Stopp Cowtown marked a 220.5 in the Non-Pro finals to secure the highest placing $12,500 Incentive. Next Stopp Cowtown, a 2017 gelding, is owned by Ryan’s parents, Philip and Mary Ann Rapp of Weatherford, Texas.

Alyssa Dvorak riding Bet On Scotch and Mary Ann Rapp atop You Gotta Believe both of Weatherford, Texas, tied for the second-highest placing in the Non-Pro finals. Bet On Scotch is a 2016 gelding owned by Dvorak, and You Gotta Believe is a 2017 gelding owned by Mary Ann and her husband Philip Rapp of Weatherford, Texas. Each pair marked a 217.5 to split the remaining $12,500 incentive, earning $6,250 respectively.

Amateur Division Winners – 14 Eligible Finalists– $25,000 Total Prize Money

Bridget Trenary of Nashville, Tennessee, is the owner and rider of Sugar Smak, a 2016 mare. Together, they marked a 221.5 during the McAlister Assets Amateur finals to claim the highest placing $12,500 Incentive in the Amateur division.

Stacie McDavid from Fort Worth, Texas, scored a 217.5 on DMAC Open Carry during the finals, earning her the second-highest place, taking home the $7,500 Incentive. DMAC Open Carry is a 2017 gelding owned by Stacie and her husband David McDavid of Fort Worth, Texas.

Bella Anderson of Weatherford, Texas, marked a 217 in the finals on Metallic Highlights, a 2016 mare owned by Anderson Cattle Co of Victoria, Texas. Together, they secured the remaining $5,000 TQHA incentive.
