The winning purse in the 10-horse finals paid $6,211; second paid $5,690; and third paid $4,908.
Speak Easie LTE $44,436 is owned by Sherry Wolfenbarger Cagan, Weatherford, Tex. The Smooth Talkin Style daughter, bred by Double Dove Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex., is a half-sister to Stevia LTE $51,501, by Kit Kat Sugar, and out of a full sister to Twice As Reycy LTE $194,141 and Here To Reymember LTE $153,335, both sired by Dual Rey.
Cass Tatum, the NCHA earner of $154,886, showed Bobs Smart Rey LTE $183,976, by Dual Rey, as a 2017 Super Stakes 4-Year-Old Limited Open finalist. He also showed Cat Stevens LTE $92,674, by High Brow Cat, to place in the 2016 Super Stakes Open Classic and Limited Open, and in 2019, to place sixth with Kandy Crush LTE $37,158, by Kit Kat Sugar, in the Limited Open.
This is the first limited age event money earned by RN Smooth And Curly LTE $3,370, owned by Stephen Ferguson, Houston, Tex. The Smooth As A Cat daughter was bred by Rio Neches Cattle Co., out of a daughter of Curly Rode Her Ma LTE $155,025, by Colonel Freckles, who was shown by Phil Rapp as reserve champion of the 1991 NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro Classic.
Eightee Proof LTE $3,212 is owned by Tarin and Katie Rice, Poolville, Tex. The High Brow Cat gelding was bred by Center Ranch, out of the Grays Starlight daughter Shortys Starlight LTE $23,683, dam of the earners of $315,338, including SDP Lil Ichi Maddie LTE $173,575.
Garrett Hampton, the NCHA earner of $82,600, was reserve champion of the 2018 NCHA Super Stakes Limited Open riding Merlott LTE $28,226, by Dual Rey. Earlier this year, Hampton and Eightee Proof placed fifth in the Ike Hamilton Derby Limited Open.
Metals For Babe LTE $2,957 is owned by Julie and Michael Magness, Brookshire, Tex. The Metallic Cat daughter, bred by Drummond Land & Cattle Company, is out of the Docs Stylish Oak daughter Moms Stylish Babe LTE $37,565, dam of earners of over $1.3 million.
Clay Cerny, the NCHA earner of $158,669, was a finalist in the 2018 Super Stakes 4-Year-Old Limited Open and showed Metals For Babe this past January as an Abilene Spectacular Open Intermediate finalist.
Dalton Laekea Vicar scored 222 points on Iridescent Girl to win the Super Stakes 5-Year-Old Limited Open Finals and $4,904. Shane Carlon, with 217 points on Wiley Temptress, earned the reserve title and $4,386, in the six-horse finals.
Iridescent Girl LTE $4,853, owned by Circle Y Ranch, Millsap, Tex., was bred by David Hartman. Sired by Metallic Cat, Iridescent Girl is out of the Dual Rey daughter Never Reylinguish LTE $84,709, dam of the earners of $216,984, including Iridescent Girl’s full brother Buonvino LTE $140,287, winner of the 2021 Abilene Spectacular Open under Beau Galyean.
This is Dalton Vicar’s first NCHA limited age event finals. The NCHA earner of $22,613 won the 2016 NCHA World $2,000 Limited Rider Finals riding Cat In White Nikes LTE $53,638, by High Brow Cat, who he also showed to place fourth in the NCHA Western Nationals $2,000 Limited Rider.
Shane Carlon showed Wiley Temptress LTE $4,492 earlier this year to place in the Ike Hamilton Derby Limited Open and Open Limited Novice. Owned by David and Rebecca Kuhl, Centralia, Ill., Wiley Temptress, by Hottish, was bred by Dustin Adams. Her dam, the Peptoboonsmal daughter Boonsmal Doctress LTE $211,007, producer of earners of $591,045, is a half-sister to The Doctress Orders LTE $150,752, by Dual Rey.
Shane Carlon, the NCHA earner of $125,722, was a 2014 NCHA Super Stakes Limited Open finalist riding WRJ Smart N Sassycat LTE $46,831, by WR This Cats Smart.
