Shannan Daugherty tops $2,000 Rider finals with a 220

Shannan Daugherty tops $2,000 Rider finals

Shannan Daugherty of Birch Tree, Mo., scored 220 on Metallicolena LTE $19,727 to win the $2,000 Ltd Rider finals Friday at the 6666 Ranch NCHA Eastern National Championships in Jackson, Miss.

Sam Gallaher of Welda, Kans., was reserve champion with a 217 on DCR Smooth Move LTE $771. There was a three-way tie for third place at 216 among Kate Roberson of Mineral Wells, Tex. on Catmerize, Reagan Overstreet of Kenansville, Flor. on Dmac Magician, and Tristan Moschella of Jewett, Tex. on Downtown B Brown.

Shannan Daugherty has NCHA earnings of $4,175 coming into the Eastern Nationals. She was also a finalist in last year’s $2,000 Ltd Rider finals on Lingerey.

Metallicolena was bred by Kimberly Thome and is owned by Sadlers Farm of Lakeview, Ark. The 7-year-old mare is by Metallic Cat out of TF Cee Dee Stars LTE $115,307.

Sam Gallaher, who has also been successful in reined cowhorse events, has NCHA earnings of $2,203. His mount, DCR Smooth Move, is owned by Montosa Ranch. The 6-year-old mare is by Smooth As A Cat out of The Doctress Orders $LTE $150,752, the mare that Dustin Adams rode to win the Non-Pro Breeders Invitational in 2010.
